Haliburton House was constructed in 1856 by Colonel Thomas Haliburton. Haliburton served as a member of Parliament for Windsor, and he also served as lieutenant-governor of New Brunswick from 1831 to 1840. These include being elected to Parliament, serving on the board of governors for King's College (now University) in Halifax, presiding over the assembly which produced what became known as “the Great Reform Bill”. It extended voting rights to all males who owned property and authored several books. Haliburton House Museum is open from Victoria Day weekend in May until the end of October. There are guided tours available, or visitors can explore on their own.
